Community feeding program

INTRODUCTION

Christmas day is the day when Christians across the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. In Uganda most of the people do celebrate this day with their families and relatives in the villages. For those who do not have anywhere to be or family to meet up with then it becomes just another above the ground. It is on this basis that Goldhope together with Living hope jointly came up with the idea of hosting families and children who did could not afford to even have a decent meal at home for Christmas.

NARRATIVE

As a team from Goldhope we mobilized friends, family and other well-wishers to buy food and Christmas presents which planned to distribute and share a meal with families that could not afford a meal on Christmas day in Buikwe district.

On the 25th of December 2023, the team from Goldhope and living hope hosted the community of Namaye in Buikwe district for a Christmas fellowship and later shared a meal and gave presents out to the children in the community.

Members of the community who were attending the Christmas story in the school chapel. These were read to about the birth of Jesus Christ and the significancy of the birth of Christ in their day to day lives. We were pleased to register 6 new people who gave their lives to Jesus Christ and others that re committed their lives to God.

The children and Adults after the service which ended at about 12:45 pm were later hosted to a luncheon in which we still emphasized the meaning of the Christmas as a time to celebrate with family and sharing of love with one another.

CHALLENGES AND PRAYER REQUESTS

We need a camera that can be able to help us document our work and take very nice pictures which can be uploaded on the website. However as of now are using phone cameras to take all these pictures.

We need more funding so that we can provide as many meals as possible to those who can not be able to have a decent meal.

We would love to procure as many Bibles as possible this year 2024 so that we can distribute them to both adults and children so that the reach for Jesus is widen.

Conclusion:

In order to keep and grow a stable community we believe that as we empower the young girls we also need to engage the boy child as well so as to acquire a balanced gender equality.
