About Andrew Isanga

My name is Andrew Isanga, I am currently the director of GoldHope Ministries in Kamuli, having lost both parents at a very young age I was taken to an orphanage called Good Shepherds Fold (GSF) in 2000 when I was six years old.

GSF was run by missionaries from the US (Daddy Wayne Walker and his wife that we called Mommy). It is a Christian organization which taught us about Jesus and trained us to become disciples for Christ. Daddy Wayne always taught and encouraged us that in this life we live for a purpose, considering that there are over two million orphans in Uganda due to war, disease and hunger.

For the time I was given hope to live for at GSf, I realised that God had me there for a reason and he was going to use me for a greater purpose in life. After my resettlement from GSF I was integrated back to the community where I discovered that many of the girls that had dropped out of school was due to lack of school fees, stigmatized at school because they could not afford sanitary pads to use when they get into periods and this in the African traditions interpreted that the girl child has become mature and ready for marriage.

As a result of the stories these young shared with me, I was heart broken. I wondered if this was my sister or daughter would I want the same for them? I felt a calling in my heart to support these young girls in village schools by providing sanitary ware to last a year and to educate the boys on the importance of not bullying but encouraging the girls to stay in school by mutual respect and support.

I am humbly requesting on their behalf for your support in anyway you can, through your prayers and financial support we can empower the girl child and community at large.
